I will be using it to play my PS3 as well as watch lots of Bluerays! I don’t know much about TVs besides resolutions and input standards. I’m looking to spend around $600-$700, but I’d spend a little more for a good value.
What should I look for in a quality HDTV?
Is refresh rate important?
What is better, LCD or plasma? (in terms of picture and longevity)
What is the best store/site to look for TVs?
Should I wait for a sale?
Can I expect the type of TV i’m looking for to be discounted during sales season?
If so, when’s the best time to buy?
Sound quality is not a major concern and I don’t really care about picture in picture or any of those bells and whistles, I’m mainly looking for something that will look good and not die out in a year.
Thanks for the help!

If you’re looking to buy a TV cheap, now is the time!
HDTV prices are at a all-time low do to demand and a piss poor world economy! But these deals aren’t going to last long and prices will soon start rising again!
In terms of picture quality and reliability(longevity), i HIGHLY recommend a Panasonic or Samsung Plasma TV! They have the highest contrast ratio’s(2,000,000:1 dynamic; 40,000:1 native) and have near instant response times(.001ms typically)! This makes them perfect for watching fast motion content like sports, movies & gaming!
Here are my recommendations for you:
Panasonic 42″: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…
Samsung 42″: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…
These are the highest quality Plasma TV’s money can buy with great features, easy set-up and great sound quality as well!
It is impossible to buy a 1080p with price you mentioned. So I’ll recommend this one, yes it is at sale right now:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ULB…
