It depends on what you are connecting to the TV.
You will need to know what sort of outputs the devices have that you want to connect.
If they don’t have HDMI outputs then you don’t need HDMI Cables.
You will need component cables if you have no HDMI outputs ,but you will not see the true benefits of blu-ray until you use the HDMI inputs.
HDMI is only necessary for blu-ray technology. If it is blu-ray compatible you will need HDMI , if it is not HDMI compatible just get component cables.
Those two cables work well for the HDTV, also suggest FRYS to be a store where you can consider shopping. If your in no rush just wait for it to go on sell, usually very often. Do buy the digital cable it is great for gaming if you have a PS3 system; Xbox360 etc. As for the audio cable if you have a home entertainment system (nice speakers) you can consider hooking it up or else the speakers in the TV is good enough. hope this info helps.
HDMI transmits both audio and video. Unless your connecting to a sound system you can skip the Audio cable.
Many people complain about the poor sound from this and many Samsungs. I have two (a 19″ lcd and the same LN46A550 you have-it’s a great set!) and I have no issues with the sound but I am not an audiophile. If you are, see what your sound system can accept for inputs and get the appropriate cable. The LN46 has lots of input options as you can clearly see.
